Let me be honest, I always wanted to stay in this hotel after discovering that it was previous the house of the Rosales family and the location where Federico Garcia Lorca was in hiding before his arrest, but I was somewhat put off by the average reviews (3.9 here and 7.9 on Booking. I'm quite fussy when it comes to choosing the right hotel and so user reviews play a big part in me deciding where to stay). So when I came to Granada previously I chose to stay somewhere else. However, I returned to Granada this January and my curiosity got the better of me - plus the fact it is very reasonably priced (50-60 euros for a standard double room) - and so I finally booked here. I can't say I experienced any reason to negatively review the Hotel Reina Cristina. In fact, quite the opposite. The hotel was clean and in great condition (room cleaned daily). The employees were very friendly (special mention to Andalus who was great to chat to and welcoming in offering suggestions on food, etc). The location almost cannot be better. I didn't experience any soundproofing issues (it was pretty quiet for me the entire week I was there). There is plenty of wardrobe space for clothes and bags and the bed was comfortable. I'm glad the hotel retains some character of the house - the lobby is really cool with a fountain and a cabinet of Lorca-related memorabilia. In the future when I visit Granada I will come back to this hotel again and recommend it to others. Don't be put off on here as the rating isn't higher than 8+, I had a great stay here!

The hotel is located in the Bib-Rambla area of Granada with beautiful architecture and very close to sightseeing spots like Granada Cathedral, restaurants, cafés, bars and shopping. It's pretty ideally located as you're right in the middle of so much, yet it's not a "clubbing area" so it's still easy to fall asleep at night without getting disturbed by people partying. The hotel staff are very kind and friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable as was the bed and the bathroom was small but good. It's only about a ten minute walk away from the Albaicín area and depending on your speed and stamina, you could walk to the Alhambra in 20 minutes (there's a shortcut through a park at the side of a square which is easier to walk if you don't like to take the cobblestone steps via Carrera del Darro). I really enjoyed the hotel and found it very reasonably priced for the location. Would definitely return.

The room has a luxury air about it. A comfy bed, but the bed base moved easily away from the light switch. Good desk and fittings, wardrobe. Nice bathroom, big shower with a seat. Good reception and staff. Fairly central to the Cathedral and Renaissance buildings, easy to walk to the Alhambra and Plaza Nueva. Plenty of places to eat. Fantastic fruit shop opposite and a fantastic pastry shop too. Supermarket within two minutes walk.

Extremely well located for tourists in particular. The history of the building made the stay even more interesting, and the Rincón Lorca restaurant adjacent to the hotel has great food and great service. Having seen locals come to the restaurant gave us the assurance that we chose a good place for dinning. Remember to ask about the movie that was partly filmed in the building...

Staff are very welcoming and friendly. Location was good around 20 minutes walking to Alhambra. With taxi, it says on Google 17-20 minutes but actually it is around 8-10 minutes only. Google maps are showing wrong (due to streets that are closed but actually not). Good value for the money you're paying.
